Each day I travel 10km from my home to my factory/workshop, sometimes via the main roads and sometimes along the side streets. I am on my way to make some new designer furniture to sell. What I see on the way amazes me and almost brings me to tears. Large piles of discarded items, more than 60% of it furniture, heaped up on the natures strips outside family homes.
Sure, some of it is worn, dirty, or broken, Some of it may have been designer furniture once but is now past its glory. And some of it is simply just not needed anymore. I hope that we don’t treat our friends that way. When a relationship is wearing thin, or is broken, then it needs fixing. We need to think of our furniture in the same way.
When a piece of furniture has served its purpose for us and we no longer need it, some body else may be able to enjoy its use. Try Buy, Swap, Sell, MarketPlace, eBay, Gumtree, etc. You may even get a few dollars for it. If it is broken, or worn, then it may be able to be fixed or restored. Or maybe it would be like starting a new adventure by simply giving it a facelift.
A lot of the tasks are things that a lot of you can do yourselves, and honestly, it can be quite rewarding. There is plenty of help out there on places such as YouTube to get you going. But lets face it, not everybody is able to, wanting to, or has got the time to fix furniture, or do facelifts. That is where businesses such as Saxon Designs come in.
